Scratch Jr is an introductory programming language that empowers children aged 5 to 8 to craft their interactive stories and games based on Quranic narratives at DarulQuran. Children can assemble graphic programming blocks to make their characters move, jump, dance, and sing. They can also customize the characters in the graphic editor, add their voices and sounds, and even insert photos of themselves. Then, they can utilize the programming blocks to breathe life into their characters. Our unique Scratch Jr course at DarulQuran Academy enables children to create diverse stories rooted in Quranic narratives.

• To help children organize their thoughts and express their ideas effectively,
• To instruct young children in creating and expressing themselves using computers, not just interacting with them,
• To guide children in problem-solving and project design,
• To motivate younger children to apply math and language in a stimulating context inspired by Quranic stories, fostering general skills, particularly numeracy and Quranic knowledge,
• To introduce children to the Quran as the Holy book for Muslims,
• To nurture a love for the Quran,
• To explore Quranic stories and gain a deeper understanding of them,
• To instill a lifelong connection to Islam in children’s hearts.

Today, computer programming, commonly known as “coding,” has become an integral part of learning. Similar to writing, programming helps individuals organize their thoughts and express their ideas. In the past, many people considered this discipline too complex; however, we believe it should be accessible to everyone, just like writing. Through programming with Scratch Jr, young children can learn to create and express themselves using the computer, not merely interact with it. Furthermore, they can connect it to their faith and religion, perceiving it as a tool to create beautiful Quranic characters and stories.

This course has no prerequisite.

• Cultivate a deep love for the Quran and establish a beautiful relationship with it through programming,
• Gain familiarity with programming as the language of computers to a significant extent,
• Design a variety of new projects,
• Enhance Quranic knowledge by learning numerous stories and skills based on Quranic verses,
• Foster creativity through programming, storytelling, and games,
• Improve computer skills.

While there are no formal tests for children, their progress will be consistently monitored and reported to the parents.
