Here’s an overview of the approximate number of followers for each religion:

Christianity:

Christianity is the largest religion globally, with approximately 2.3 billion followers, constituting around 31% of the world population. Christians are distributed across various continents, with significant populations in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Oceania.

The largest Christian denominations include Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodoxy. Christianity is centered on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe to be the Son of God and the savior of humanity.

Core Christian beliefs include the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, baptism, communion, and the importance of love, forgiveness, and charity.

Islam:

Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, with over 1.9 billion followers, representing approximately 24% of the global population. The majority of Muslims reside in regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The countries with the largest Muslim populations include Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. Islam is characterized by its belief in the oneness of God (Allah), the prophethood of Muhammad, prayer, fasting during the month of Ramadan, charity (Zakat), and the pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj).

Both Christianity and Islam continue to grow and evolve, with followers spread across diverse cultures, languages, and geographical regions around the world.
Considering the profound significance of Christianity and Islam, the DarulQuran Academy has made the decision to introduce a new course, titled “Comparative Studies of Islam and Christianity”.

In this course, the concepts of the two books, the Quran and the Bible, will be examined and studied. Topics such as theology in Islam and Christianity, as well as historical and content analysis of the Bible and the Quran, are scheduled to be covered.

The status of Jesus Christ in the Quran and the status of Muhammad (S), the Prophet of Islam, in Christianity, are among the other topics included in this course.

So, the course aims to promote interfaith understanding and appreciation.

The forthcoming Comparative Religions course at DarulQuran Academy will comprehensively address the following questions:

  1. What attributes and characteristics define God in Islam, and how do these compare with the conception of God in Christianity?
  2. Does Christianity uphold the belief in the oneness of God, akin to the central tenet of Islam?
  3. What is the role and significance of prophets as depicted in the Bible, particularly in relation to their status in Islam?
  4. Is the Bible regarded as a continuation of the Torah, and what implications does this have for understanding the religious narrative?
  5. How does the Quran perceive Christianity, and what insights does it offer regarding the Christian faith?
  6. Conversely, what perspectives does Christianity hold regarding Islam, and how does it approach the teachings and practices of the Islamic tradition?

This course is designed to cater to teenagers and adults.

Through meticulous examination and comparative analysis, the participants enrolled in the course will gain nuanced insights into these fundamental aspects of Islam and Christianity, fostering a deeper understanding of the religious traditions and their interrelations.
