A heartwarming children’s workshop was held on February 16th, 2025, to mark the blessed month of Sha’ban by introducing young participants to the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (S). The event, titled “Quranic Stories Workshop,” was part of a larger educational initiative designed to instill love for the Prophet and his teachings in young hearts.
Storytelling has long been recognized as one of the most powerful and timeless tools in a child’s emotional, moral, and spiritual development. It is through stories that children begin to understand abstract concepts like empathy, justice, courage, and faith in ways that are both accessible and memorable.
Stories spark imagination, cultivate curiosity, and help children make sense of the world around them.
More importantly, they provide a safe and engaging space for children to explore deep questions, recognize right from wrong, and develop a sense of identity.
In the context of Islamic education, storytelling holds an even more sacred role—it serves as a bridge between young hearts and the exemplary lives of the Prophets and righteous individuals.
When children hear about the challenges, sacrifices, and kindness of Prophet Muhammad (S), those stories do more than inform—they inspire. They lay the foundation for a lifelong relationship with the Prophet as a role model, a guide, and a source of comfort.
This workshop beautifully harnessed the transformative power of narrative to help children internalize the core values embodied by the Prophet Muhammad (S)—compassion, humility, sincerity, and kindness.
Through creative storytelling and interactive discussion, the children were not only entertained but deeply moved. These stories didn’t just stay in their minds—they reached their hearts, creating lasting impressions that will shape how they view faith, character, and the world around them.
The week-long registration for the workshop ran from February 9th to 16th, during which many families expressed interest in the program’s unique and engaging approach. The theme was inspired by the Hadith: “Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha’ban is my month, and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah.”
Children began the session by watching a Quranic stories clip focused on the Prophets of strong will (Ulul-Azm), followed by a warm welcome and introductions. To emphasize the Prophet’s love for the Qur’an, participants listened to a recitation of Surah An-Naas.
One of the highlights of the workshop was an engaging image-based guessing game where children identified objects from the Prophet’s life—such as a comb and perfume—and discussed their significance.
This was accompanied by lively interactions with a puppet named Cheekidi, who quickly became a favorite among the children and added an element of fun and connection.
The session also drew a thoughtful connection between the Prophet’s kindness toward children and the current hardships faced by children in Gaza, concluding with a collective dua—a moment of reflection and empathy.
Two stories were shared during the session: one of them, “The Kindest Prophet,” focused on the Prophet’s love for orphans and was brought to life through a short video. The children were invited to answer questions and share reflections, with Cheekidi helping guide the conversation and keeping spirits high.
The workshop successfully combined learning, play, and compassion—leaving children with meaningful memories and a deeper admiration for the character of Prophet Muhammad (S).
