The Educational Journey with DarulQuran Academy in Sweden

According to reports, Islam is the second largest religion in Sweden and Europe and has experienced the most growth over the last 50 years.

Based on conducted research, the Muslim population in Sweden has reached 8.1 percent of the total population of 10 million (about 875,000 people).

Historical sources indicate that the first Muslims to enter Sweden were Russian Tatars, and the first Muslim community after World War II migrated from Finland to Sweden.

They had Tatar origins and established the first Islamic cultural association in Stockholm.
The presence of Islam in Sweden expanded significantly in the latter half of the 20th century due to immigration from Muslim-majority countries and labor migration.

As the Muslim population grew, so did the infrastructure to support religious and cultural practices. Mosques, Islamic centers, and cultural associations were established to provide spaces for prayer, community gatherings, education, and social support.

These institutions play a crucial role in preserving Muslim identity, providing services to the community, and facilitating integration into Swedish society.

It is worth mentioning that the interest in attending Quranic classes has seen growth within Muslim communities in Sweden, reflecting a desire among individuals to deepen their understanding of Islam, strengthen their spiritual connection, and foster a sense of community.

The growth in interest to attend Quranic classes may be attributed to various factors, including a desire for personal growth and spiritual fulfillment and the availability of resources and educational programs within local Muslim communities.

Additionally, efforts by mosques, Islamic centers, and online platforms to offer diverse and accessible learning opportunities contribute to the popularity of Quranic classes.

Quranic classes offer opportunities for both children and adults to learn about the Quran, its teachings, recitation, and interpretation.

For children, Quranic classes often serve as a foundational education in Islamic studies, teaching them about their faith, morals, and values.
For adults, Quranic classes provide opportunities for ongoing learning and spiritual development.

Many adults attend Quranic classes to deepen their understanding of the Quran’s message, learn about its historical context, and explore its relevance to contemporary issues.

Recently, two groups from Sweden, hailing from the cities of Gothenburg and Malmo, have joined DarulQuran Academy.

These individuals spanning from children to adults have enrolled in at least two courses offered by DarulQuran.
More than half of these individuals have already commenced their classes, while the remaining sessions are set to commence within the next one to two weeks.

A group of the participants among this group are interested in participating in the specialized TTC (Teacher Training Course) to become Quranic teachers and advocates within their respective communities.

Currently, they are undergoing prerequisite courses in Tajwid, and it is anticipated that the first group of Quran learners will graduate from the TTC program within the next six months, ready to serve as Quranic educators themselves.
